Formatted contents note Blockchain technology introduced new research directions toward achieving decentralization. Blockchains ensure data immutability and integrity, but the data fed to blockchains must be accurate as the authenticity and accuracy of input data can not be established by blockchains themselves. Nonetheless, blockchain technology is now being employed in various applications, including IoT. Most real-world IoT application utilize cloud infrastructure for actual computations and analytics on data fed by edge devices. Cloud-based IoT applications are hosted in data centres around the globe, introducing latency in the applications. Hence, fog architecture was proposed to improve the performance and QoS perimeters, shifting some processing and storage at intermediate nodes to reduce latency issues. However, fog architecture introduces new entites as an additional layer which must be trusted with the data. Many applications on fog architecture utilize blockchain at different layers to ensure data integrity at some step. However, most of these applications neglect the blockchain oracle problem and data integrity issues during data transmission from the source to the destination. Hence, there is a need to develop a security mechanism to ensure that data fed to the blockchain has not been tampered with. <br/>This thesis thus proposes a serverless cloud-based architecture for secure on-chaining of verification data for integrity verification in fog computing while catering for the blockchain oracle problem.
